Are wealthy conservatives and republicans intentionally trying to prevent an economic recovery?

That theory does not seem plausible. Even were Republicans to wish that the economy as a whole would weaken (and we don't wish this), no rational person is going to deliberately lose money in order to weaken the economy in order to make Obama look bad. I'm sorry. That just doesn't make sense.
