Do doctors get annoyed when patients discuss costs with them?

I am interested in fertility treatment which insurance does not cover. I was quoted $9800 for a particular procedure from one office, and $15,000 at another. I wasn't crazy about the personality of the doctor at the 9800 place, the doctor from the $15,000 clinic has emailed me several times asking if I am still interested to pursue there. I finally emailed him back stating I was quoted 15K for xyz procedure from his office, which is significantly higher than several other places. He seems like a nice guy so I feel stupid discussing the financial aspect with him so is that out of place to do?
