Do you think this is a good idea for a story?

Like most story lines this is not an entirely new idea. You have an interesting variation on it but like someone else said you need a good explanation about why only a few 14 year olds are left in the world. Perhaps the climax of the story could be them finding out what happened to everyone else but you will need to make it good to avoid an anticlimax.
