Why do you think he does this..?

I'm on my high school track team and the guys and the girls always practice together. And since the sprinters of both genders usually do the same work outs together, we're always together. There's this one guy, though, and whenever i look his way he's always looking at me and looks away awkwardly when he sees i'm looking at him. I'm a freshman and he's a junior and we've never talked. Does this mean anything or is it just nothing?
