Has anyone had a belly on hernia? What was your treatment?

I have been browsing the net as it's the weekend and I cannot see a doctor. I have this small lump just to one side of my belly on. I've noticed a pain in the same place for a few months now when its touched but just yesturday I noticed one side of my belly on was raised and it appears to be a lump about the size of a garden pea. it's painful when I move around in certain ways. If its a umbilical hernia it could be considered too minor to require surgery and the gp might try to push it back in. Now i am absolutly terrified to go to the docs because I couldnt imagine anything worse right now to add to my pain. what was ur treatment of this?
